Not sure what it is REALLY called, but Abbie did have a lot of yellow "crap" in her left eye for the last 14 and a half months. Today was the day that (hopefully) that all changed because Abbie had the "crap" cleared and then a small temporary tube was inserted in her tear duct to keep the passageway open for a little while so it doesn't "recrap" up. Everyone with me??
At 5:45 am we woke Abbie up for a car ride to St Peters Hospital in New Brunswick. Once we got to the hospital she was wide awake, saying "Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi" to every nurse, receptionist, and grumpy patient (guess she's a morning person). At around 7:00am, we got a room and met the doctors. Here's Abbie modeling the newest lineup of hospital gowns.
"Hey Dad - is there a draft in here? My butt feels cold"
At around 7:30am, after a nice tylenol cocktail, the anesthesiologist took her down the hall for some nice gas and surgery. Mommy & Daddy waited outside... and 30 minutes later, we got our groggy, sleepy daughter back, and many nice compliments from the nurses and doctors on how good (and cute) she was.
Oh almost forgot... after waking up, she also vomited all over Mommy and Daddy (multiple times each).... so now our family owns a new pair of size XL hospital scrubs! Sweet.
Here's her ready to go home... with her new pal "Mel-mo" which Daddy got to surprise her after surgery. Thanks for all the good wishes, prayers, flowers, etc., and keep your fingers crossed that it worked!
Okay, Chuck, not that the pics of you and Abbie aren't precious, but the one of Colleen with her is just breathtaking! Beautiful! Get well soon, Abbie! xo
ReplyDeleteThe one of Abbie and Colleen kills me! And super job with the speedy updates.
ReplyDeleteaww, thanks ladies. i didn't even look at it that way.
ReplyDeleteand chuck, is that picture of you and abbie post-op before or after she puked all over your lap? ;)
Glad Abbie's procedure went ok & Mom & Dad survived, hope it works !
ReplyDeleteJust catching up, watched your "52 weeks of Abbie" video, I like how the photos show how long her legs grew in 1 year, now you can continue with her exclusively vertical in year 2 !
